Principal architect

Eugene Cox Dunwody, Jr.

AIA · LEED AP

Gene is a registered Georgia architect, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a 1985 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture. He has been the lead designer of more than one hundred projects in Georgia, including the historic renovations of Scott and Rhodes Halls at the University of Georgia, the Academy of Medicine in Atlanta, the Cox Capitol and Buckhead Theatres, and Mayfair Hall. He is a member and past president of the AIA Middle Georgia Chapter.

He currently serves as vice chairman of the Georgia Secretary of State's Contractor Licensing Board and has served on the USGBC Georgia State Board. His civic leadership has included Macon Heritage Foundation, Macon Rotary Club, Cox Capitol Theatre, Macon Arts Alliance, and the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. AIA Georgia awarded him its Bronze Medal in 2008 for contributions to historic restoration and preservation.

His place in the practice is both contemporary and inherited. The office was founded by W. Elliott Dunwody, Jr.; Hotel Forty Five later asked Gene's generation to adapt an addition designed by his grandfather. That continuity is useful only when it sharpens judgment in the present, and that is how the studio treats it.

Head of design and production

Robert Clinton Beeland

AIA · NCARB

Robbie earned an Associate of Science in Architecture from Southern Technical Institute after attending Middle Georgia College. He is a registered Georgia architect and holds an NCARB Certificate.

He joined W. Elliott Dunwody, Jr., Architect in 1963 as a draftsman, became a job captain in 1966, and joined Dunwody and Company, Architects in 1968 as Head of Design and Production. He continues to lead the coordination of construction documents, engineering disciplines, and shop-drawing review.

A past president of AIA Middle Georgia, Robbie has also served the Family Counseling Center, Georgia Historical Society, Macon Heritage Foundation, and Hay House Museum. Six decades in one line of practice give the work a rare technical memory: details remembered, consequences understood, and drawings judged by what happens after they leave the studio.

Registered interior designer

Arielle Schlesinger

ASID · NCIDQ

Arielle earned a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design with a minor in Studio Art from the University of Alabama in 2007. While there, she worked as a classroom and desktop support technician and system administrator for the university’s C&BA Technology Group, supporting systems used by students, faculty, and administration. She then continued her education at the New York School of Interior Design, joined Dunwody/Beeland in June 2008, and is a registered interior designer in Georgia.

Her work joins interiors, Building Information Modeling, graphic design, and technical support. Her project experience includes higher education, K-12, commercial, medical, hospitality, and multifamily environments.

Arielle is a professional member of ASID. Her Macon service includes the Rotary Club of Downtown Macon, Historic Macon Foundation, The 567 Center for Renewal, and volunteer coordination for Bike Walk Macon’s Open Streets events in 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2025. AIA Allied Member

Spud graduated from Valdosta Technical Institute in Drafting and Design in 1987. As a student, he competed in the Skills Competition and placed second at the state level. His early work with Charles Norris & Associates Architects and local contractors gave him experience in both drawing production and the practical disciplines of estimating and project management.

He later served as the sole design and drafting operator for a Macon developer working on nursing homes and apartments. Spud joined Dunwody/Beeland in 2001 and has become a central resource in the production of drawings for major projects.

He is a Freemason in Georgia and serves as a district deputy for his sub-district. He is also a co-founder, charter member, and elected state president of the Traveling Men Motorcycle Riders Club.
