The project

Dunwody and Co. completed the three-story library in the late 1960s—the firm dates it to 1969 and Wesleyan’s archive to 1968. Renovation planning began in 2015, and the building remained open as work moved through three construction phases.

The project replaced the air-handling, lighting, sprinkler, and fire-alarm systems; exposed and painted the waffle-slab concrete ceilings; and opened the main stair with glass panels and aluminum rails.

The first floor now holds a 24-hour Academic Resource Center with testing, writing, and computer labs. Upstairs are group-study rooms, student lounges, and a makerspace for sewing, crafts, and hands-on projects. The final phase was completed in 2022.
