The project

First United Methodist Church built the downtown building in 1913. Georgia College purchased it in 2004 and opened the renovated Student Activities Center the following January.

The former sanctuary and education wing now hold a student lounge, the Department of Campus Life, Student Government Association offices, and rooms for meetings and events.

Before those programs could move in, the project repaired extensive roof damage, restored the exterior under federal preservation standards, and made the building fully accessible.
