The project
Macon–Bibb County’s program covered Claystone Park, Sandy Beach, and Arrowhead Park. Phase 1 provided new guardhouses at park entrances, replaced the Claystone ranger station, and added restroom facilities at Sandy Beach and Claystone.
After the first phase finished under budget, the project team worked with park staff to extend the improvements. Phase 2 added four pickleball courts, enclosed and renovated pavilions, upgraded bathrooms, and replaced three picnic shelters.
The modest buildings share durable materials, deep roof overhangs, and straightforward wayfinding suited to heavily used public recreation sites.
