The project

Architect Alfred Fellheimer designed Macon Terminal Station, which opened in 1916. Passenger traffic later declined, and Georgia Power bought the empty building in 1982.

The Dunwody/Beeland project belongs to the station’s office chapter. The former open concourse was enclosed, a mezzanine was added at the rear, and warehouse rooms became offices. Historic Tax Credits helped finance the work.

The City of Macon acquired the station in 2002, and another major restoration followed in 2010. Today the building is the Macon-Bibb transit hub, with government offices and event rooms sharing the old station.
