The project
The Buckhead Theatre began as a Spanish Revival movie palace at the center of Buckhead life. Over subsequent decades it operated as the Capri Theatre, a cinema-and-drafthouse, and the Roxy concert venue before deterioration forced another reinvention.
Dunwody/Beeland’s three-story renovation restored the historic auditorium and introduced an addition for contemporary programming. The work replaced the building’s major systems, addressed current accessibility requirements, and integrated theatrical, audio/visual, and stage-rigging infrastructure.
The restored venue pairs its ornamental arches, balcony, plasterwork, and street-facing marquee with flexible event spaces. Independent technical documentation describes a facility able to support film, concerts, corporate presentations, private events, and combined programs across the auditorium and upper-level meeting rooms.
