The project

The building occupies a prominent site overlooking Wesleyan’s main green. Its Georgian Revival composition follows the logic of the college’s 1928 Walter and Weeks master plan while establishing a new center for science education.

Inside, teaching and research laboratories support biology, chemistry, physics, ecology, physiology, immunology, and instrumental analysis. Technology classrooms, a community learning center, greenhouse, vivarium, simulation lab, and astronomy observation deck broaden the ways students and faculty work together.

The project uses a familiar campus material language and axial organization to make a contemporary program read as part of Wesleyan’s historic ensemble.
